Left Forum 2011 continues apace! In this interview with David Schwartzman, activist and environmental scientist, we discuss the concept of de-growth and its relation to capitalism, eco-sociological movements, and the possibility of statehood for Washington, D.C.

David Schwartzman has been on the Howard University faculty since 1973, now in the Biology Department. He was a member of the Taxi Drivers Local Teamsters Union (Providence, R.I.) and a long-term member of the American Association of University Professors. He recently ran for D.C. City Council on the Statehood Green Party ticket.
