In Sofia, Bulgaria this week, an unknown artist pulled a fast one on authorities and repainted a Soviet Bloc monument in the image of pop culture icons like Superman and Santa Claus. Joker is leading the charge in the front, as is Ronald McDonald who is hoisting an American flag. Suprisingly no Star Wars representation here for the Hans Solo addicts, but quite an effort nonetheless.
For those wondering, the words sprayed at the bottom mean: "moving with the times," a message reinforcing how outdated the monument is in the present history of this once Soviet controlled country.
The would be vandalizer remains at large.
