Shirley Zhao (趙曉瑩) is a journalism student at Hong Kong Baptist University focusing on international news reporting. She interned at Nanfang News Corporation, one of the biggest media groups in China and has also reported on international issues like the segregation of Roma children in Czech Republic. With modernity pushing against and compromising tradition, Hong Kong is a fascinating city. China, Inside Out is a blog about every aspect of Hong Kong—the exposed and the undiscovered, the laughter and the sorrow, the days and nights. While I am currently an international journalism student in Hong Kong, I come from mainland China, and so I am a keen observer of greater China and its place in the world.
